Bill Belichick addressed questions about his girlfriend’s involvement with the North Carolina football program during a Tuesday press conference.
The Tar Heels head coach denied that Jordon Hudson has any official role with the team.
“No, she doesn’t have any role in the UNC football program,” Belichick told reporters. “But again, there’s been noise out there about a lot of different things. Again, our focus is day-to-day, getting better, stacking good days together.”
The 73-year-old coach quickly moved away from the topic after his response.
Hudson has been photographed around the team despite not being an official employee. In May, university officials released a statement clarifying she wasn’t banned from campus but confirming she’s not a school employee.
Belichick spent 24 seasons as an NFL head coach, winning six Super Bowl titles with the New England Patriots.
He took the North Carolina job in December after spending the 2024 season out of football. The move marked his first college coaching position since serving as a graduate assistant at Navy in 1975.
The Tar Heels play in the ACC and face a schedule that includes several conference opponents coming off down seasons.
North Carolina hasn’t won more than nine games since 2015. The program has struggled with consistency despite playing in a conference that’s been top-heavy in recent years.
Belichick’s hiring generated significant attention for a program looking to return to relevance in college football.
