Notre Dame announced Monday it has secured one of the transfer portal’s top targets, landing Quincy Porter from Ohio State.

The Fighting Irish had been quiet in the transfer portal this month. Porter changes that in a big way.

Porter just wrapped up his freshman season with the Buckeyes after arriving as a five-star wide receiver. Rivals ranked him as the No. 2 WR in the 2025 recruiting class.

“Notre Dame is a great opportunity for me and I’m looking forward to playing for Notre Dame and have the opportunity to continue to develop,” Porter told On3 Sports. “I think the future is good and they have a great historic history and I want add to that.”

Porter appeared in four games during his freshman campaign at Ohio State. That keeps his redshirt eligibility intact for the upcoming season.

He recorded four catches for 59 yards total.

Porter found himself buried on a loaded Ohio State depth chart. Jeremiah Smith and Carnell Tate led a talented group of wideouts ahead of him.

The Bergen Catholic product from New Jersey put up strong high school numbers. He hauled in 57 catches for 969 yards and 11 touchdowns as a senior.

Landing Porter represents a major win for Marcus Freeman and the Fighting Irish. Notre Dame still has work to do in the portal this month.

Ohio State Loses Ground at WR

The Buckeyes have now seen three wide receivers enter the transfer portal. Tate’s departure to the NFL Draft adds to their losses at the position.

Brian Hartline’s move to become head coach at USF has hurt Ohio State’s ability to retain the receivers he recruited.

Smith’s return next season provides some stability for the Buckeyes’ receiving corps.
