Ohio State’s tradition of producing top-notch wide receivers is alive and well, thanks to Quincy Porter. He’s just been named a five-star prospect, snagging the No. 13 spot in the final 2025 On300 rankings. That’s pretty impressive for a young athlete!
The latest edition of the 2025 On300 list now includes 32 five-star prospects, which is a jump from the 25 listed back in November.
So, how did Porter make such a splash? It all started with an amazing senior season at Oradell (N.J.) Bergen Catholic. In just 12 games, he racked up 57 catches for 969 yards and 11 touchdowns. He first earned his five-star recruit status from On3 during their November update.
Throughout his high school career, Porter’s stats were off the charts—38 touchdowns and over 2,600 receiving yards!
Standing at 6-foot-3.5 and weighing 200 pounds, Porter committed to Ohio State on June 14, 2024, choosing them over Penn State and Michigan. Even though Penn State tried hard to sway him at the last minute, he stayed loyal to the Buckeyes. This makes him the highest-rated Buckeye in the On300’s final release, marking three years in a row Ohio State has landed a five-star receiver from On3.
Porter Joins Ohio State’s Elite Receiver Roster
Earlier this month, Porter showed off his skills at the Navy All-American Bowl in San Antonio. There, he was named a top performer by On3, standing out among dozens of elite players nationwide.
“Quincy Porter looked like the top wide receiver prospect at the Navy All-American Bowl,” said Charles Power, On3’s Director of Scouting and Rankings. “For starters, no wideout on hand looked better physically. At 6-foot-3.5 and 200 pounds with elite arm length, Porter is how you draw them up as an outside, X-receiver. The New Jersey native pairs his considerable frame with an advanced technical skill set. He looked like the top route-runner on the East team throughout the week, showing the ability to toggle speeds and break off his routes on a dime.”
Porter didn’t just stand out for his size; he showed off some serious ball skills too. Using top-notch technique and perfect hand placement, he made some jaw-dropping catches during the game. Even if he wasn’t always the go-to target in practice, he won most of his reps and wowed everyone on game day. Last year, it was Jeremiah Smith who stole the show, and now the Buckeyes have another standout headed to Columbus. Pretty exciting times for Ohio State fans!
