Ohio State secured a commitment from four-star WR Jerquaden Guilford on Thursday, adding depth to their receiving corps while the program waits for five-star WR Chris Henry Jr. to make his delayed signing decision.

Guilford announced his commitment after Henry postponed his decision on Wednesday’s early signing day.

“Choosing THE Ohio State has always been my dream. I won’t pass up what God has written,” he told Rivals.

The 6-foot-2, 190-pound receiver from Northrop High School in Fort Wayne, Indiana initially committed to the Buckeyes in July.

He stayed committed even after WR coach Brian Hartline left to become head coach at South Florida.

Indiana was believed to be the main competition for Guilford’s signature. The timing adds intrigue with the Hoosiers set to face Ohio State in Saturday’s Big Ten Championship game.

Guilford also held offers from Michigan and Penn State among other programs.

The commitment provides some stability for Ohio State’s recruiting class as uncertainty surrounds Henry’s future. Henry ranks as a top-10 recruit nationally and was committed to OSU for months.

Hartline’s departure on signing day changed everything for the five-star prospect.

Oregon and USC are now considered the frontrunners for Henry, with reports suggesting the Ducks have taken the lead. The Buckeyes can’t afford to lose a player of Henry’s caliber, but keeping Guilford prevents a complete collapse at the position.

Ohio State’s recruiting efforts continue as the program prepares for its championship game appearance while managing the uncertainty on the recruiting trail.
