Ohio State-Michigan lacrosse rivalry takes center stage with Big Ten title on the line
The Ohio State Buckeyes will travel to Ann Arbor Saturday to face the Michigan Wolverines in a lacrosse matchup with the Big Ten regular season championship at stake.
For the first time, these historic rivals will battle for the conference’s regular season men’s lacrosse title. Both teams enter with identical 3-1 conference records.
No. 6 Ohio State (11-2 overall) and No. 12 Michigan (7-5) will face off at 4 p.m. ET on Big Ten Network.
The Buckeyes hold an 11-6 all-time advantage in the series, but Michigan has won the last four meetings.
Three Tewaaraton Award nominees will be featured in the contest. Ohio State’s Caleb Fyock and Bobby Van Buren both made the list of candidates for college lacrosse’s highest individual honor. Fyock has posted a .612 save percentage in goal, while Van Buren anchors the Buckeye defense.
Michigan’s Ryan Cohen is also a Tewaaraton nominee. The Wolverine attack has recorded at least one point in all 60 career games and holds the program’s career assists record with 114.
Big Ten lacrosse history
Ohio State, Michigan and Penn State established Big Ten lacrosse in 2012 as the conference’s original three programs.
The league has since expanded to include Maryland, Rutgers and Johns Hopkins, with Hopkins competing in Division I lacrosse only.
