Ohio State and Alabama announced their star wide receivers, Jeremiah Smith and Ryan Williams, will share the cover of EA Sports College Football 2026.
The true freshmen standouts, who established themselves as elite players last season, revealed in an interview with The Athletic that they nearly became teammates.
“I tried to get him,” Williams told The Athletic. “I was like, c’mon, let’s team up. He was like, hmm. We thought about it.”
“It would’ve been crazy,” Smith said. “I don’t know how you stop that.”
“You can’t,” Williams replied.
The duo would have spent three seasons together before NFL eligibility, creating what many analysts would consider an unprecedented receiving threat at the collegiate level.
Neither player specified which program they considered joining together – Ohio State or Alabama.
Smith and Williams maintain contact throughout the season, texting after significant performances.
Both receivers will play two more seasons in college before becoming eligible for the NFL Draft.
The video game cover further connects the two receivers who are already linked by their parallel paths as freshman standouts at traditional powerhouse programs.
