Ole Miss running back Kewan Lacy is returning for the 2026 season, signing a new deal with the Rebels, according to On3.

The Doak Walker Award finalist just finished a monster season. Lacy ranks third nationally with 1,464 rushing yards and leads the SEC with 23 touchdowns.

He scored in all but one game this season.

Lacy’s been one of the most consistent offensive players in college football. He played a key role in Ole Miss’ College Football Playoff run, including a two-touchdown performance against Georgia in the Sugar Bowl quarterfinals.

He also rushed for 87 yards and a score in the CFP first-round win over Tulane before leaving with a shoulder injury.

The decision gives first-year head coach Pete Golding a major foundation moving forward. With Lacy and quarterback Trinidad Chambliss both set to return, Ole Miss locks in its top two offensive stars for 2026.

Lacy will now lead the Rebels into the Fiesta Bowl semifinal against Miami on Jan. 8. A spot in the national championship game is on the line.

The announcement comes as programs across the country work to retain key players through the transfer portal and NIL negotiations. Lacy’s return provides stability for an Ole Miss program that’s that’s made significant strides under Golding’s leadership.
