Two teams nobody saw coming are one game away from college football’s biggest stage.
No. 6 Ole Miss and No. 10 Miami meet Thursday night in the Fiesta Bowl. The winner advances to the National Championship game.
Both programs pulled off major upsets to reach this point. Miami knocked off defending champion Ohio State 24-14 in the Cotton Bowl after sneaking into the playoffs as the final team selected.
The Hurricanes started their postseason run with a 7-3 road victory over Texas A&M. They’re now one win from their first title game appearance since 2001.
Ole Miss stunned Georgia 39-34 in a wild Sugar Bowl finish. The Rebels overcame a 14-point deficit in the fourth quarter to advance to their first CFP semifinal.
Pete Golding has the Rebels believing they can capture the program’s first national title since 1962.
