Oregon Lands 4-Star Commit Messiah Hampton in Major Recruiting Win image

Oregon landed a commitment from four-star wide receiver Messiah Hampton on Friday. The New York standout chose the Ducks over offers from Ohio State, Georgia, Michigan, Penn State, Miami and Syracuse.

Hampton is ranked as the top recruit in New York state.

The 6-foot-1, 187-pound receiver plays for James Monroe High School in Rochester. He recorded 21 touchdowns and 1,900 all-purpose yards during his junior season.

“When he has the football in his hands, he runs like he’s playing on a different speed than anyone else around him.”

Hampton’s commitment continues Oregon’s recruiting efforts in the Rochester area. East High School’s Seven McGee was previously a top recruit who committed to Oregon but transferred to Jackson State and later Albany.

The wide receiver will complete his senior season before enrolling at Oregon.

Hampton’s commitment adds another weapon to Oregon’s offensive attack. The Ducks have been building momentum on the recruiting trail under head coach Dan Lanning.

His versatility as both a receiver and return specialist makes him an immediate impact player. Hampton’s ability to create separation and make plays after the catch stood out during his junior campaign.

Oregon fans will be watching closely as Hampton finishes his high school career. The program hopes he can make the transition from New York prep football to the Pac-12.

The commitment strengthens Oregon’s 2024 recruiting class. Hampton joins a group that’s been building throughout the recruiting cycle.
