Oregon Star Predicted to Replace Bengals Trey Hendrickson in 2026

The Cincinnati Bengals are dealing with major concerns along their defensive line heading into the 2025 NFL Draft.

Their last two first-round picks at defensive end aren’t producing as expected. Shemar Stewart and Myles Murphy have combined for just half a sack through four games this season.

Trey Hendrickson is having a solid year but he’s on an expiring contract. He’ll most likely be playing elsewhere in 2026 due to a strained relationship with the team.

Cincinnati needs more production at pass rusher for the future. That’s where their top draft capital should be going.

Mock Draft Projects Oregon Edge Rusher to Cincinnati

USA Today’s latest mock draft has the Bengals selecting Oregon defensive end Matayo Uiagalelei with the 19th overall pick.

“Cincinnati went with one of the most athletic edge rushers in the class last draft with Shemar Stewart. They balance that with Uiagalelei, a high-floor rusher with lots of production against top competition,” wrote Ayrton Ostly.

Uiagalelei has recorded four sacks on 100 pass rush snaps so far in 2025.

“His first step is what NFL evaluators want to see and his bend is an asset off the edge. He’ll need to improve against double-teams.”

The Oregon pass rusher would help Cincinnati replenish their depth at the position. With Hendrickson set to hit free agency and their other edge rushers developing slower than expected, the Bengals could use the reinforcement.

The team might also consider offensive line with this pick. But considering Cincinnati’s lack of production from their edges, adding Uiagalelei would be a home run selection.

The Bengals hope to find a star pass rusher for the future through the draft after recent first-round picks haven’t panned out as expected.
