Paramount+ announced Monday that a four-episode docuseries will chronicle the gambling controversy surrounding former Texas Tech quarterback Brendan Sorsby.
The project will be directed by Micah Brown, who previously worked on Coach Prime and Untold: Sign Stealer for Prime Video and Netflix. Episode one is expected before the 2026 college football season.
Texas Tech’s football program has experienced one of the wildest offseason periods in college football history.
The Red Raiders secured Sorsby as one of the top transfer quarterbacks back in January. He reportedly signed a $5 million deal with Texas Tech before admitting to placing over 9,000 bets during his career at Indiana and Cincinnati.
Those bets included games he played in while with the Hoosiers in 2022.
The legal battle surrounding Sorsby took several unexpected turns. It eventually ended with him declaring for the NFL Supplemental Draft, which the league didn’t hold. He now waits to enter the 2027 NFL Draft.
The production team at Paramount+ hasn’t revealed specific storylines. However, the focus will likely center on the fallout from Sorsby’s gambling admission and Texas Tech’s support during the legal process in Lubbock.
Sorsby’s football options remain uncertain. He’ll enter the regular draft but could go undrafted if teams view his behavior as detrimental to his future prospects.
“This has proven to be a landscape-altering offseason, and we’ve been lucky to have a front row seat,” Skydance Sports Senior Vice President of Unscripted Greg Groggel said in a statement. “This series will present fans and viewers with an unprecedented window into everything that is defining college football today.”
The controversy has highlighted ongoing issues with gambling in college athletics. Sorsby’s case represents one of the most high-profile betting scandals involving a student-athlete.
