The NFL Draft kicks off in just four days, with anticipation building for a first round that’s expected to deliver its usual share of surprises. Miami’s Cam Ward is virtually locked in as the first overall selection.
The Cleveland Browns are widely expected to take Travis Hunter with the second pick. Beyond that, the draft picture remains fluid.
Several trades are projected within the top 10 selections, though nothing has been confirmed yet.
Philadelphia Eagles will close out the first round with the 32nd pick after defeating the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl, preventing Kansas City from winning three consecutive championships. The Eagles feature one of the NFL’s most potent offensive trios in Jalen Hurts, Saquon Barkley, and A.J. Brown.
Barkley continues to receive recognition for his impact during his first season in Philadelphia.
“I mean we just saw Saquon Barkley just change the Eagles in one year,” John Spytek said. “There’s certain ways to build a team.”
Picking last in the first round makes Philadelphia’s draft strategy difficult to predict, though the team has a history of finding value with late selections.
CBS Sports analyst Garrett Podell believes Ole Miss defensive lineman Walter Nolen could be the Eagles’ target.
“The Philadelphia Eagles seemingly always come up with a prospect everyone can’t believe fell to them in the draft, and this year that’s Ole Miss All-American defensive lineman Walter Nolen,” Podell wrote.
Adding Nolen would strengthen Philadelphia’s defensive front with a player capable of contributing immediately as the Eagles pursue consecutive championships.
