The New Orleans Saints have entered training camp with three quarterbacks competing for the starting job. Head coach Kellen Moore is giving all three signal-callers equal reps as he evaluates who will lead the offense, according to NFL.com.

No clear favorite has emerged from the competition at this point.

Tyler Shough, the Saints’ second-round pick, has impressed coaches during organized team activities. Moore praised the rookie quarterback’s football IQ and college experience during recent media sessions.

“Tyler’s experience, certainly there’s value to that. You can see it in the classroom aspect of this thing. His ability to process football at a very easy rate in the classroom. It’s really, really good when you throw him up there and you’re watching film and you’re talking about plays and concepts. He’s got great exposure, and he’s got great experiences that he can lean on.”

Shough’s contract negotiations extended into training camp. The 26-year-old quarterback pushed for his entire rookie deal to be guaranteed before signing just days before camp began.

The uncertainty at quarterback has some analysts projecting the Saints could target another quarterback in the 2026 draft.

Clemson’s Cade Klubnik has emerged as a potential future target, according to Sayre Bedinger of NFL Spin Zone.

“There’s no question that the New Orleans Saints have one of the ugliest quarterback situations in the NFL right now. The good news for New Orleans is that they’ve got younger guys with some upside, although they did use a second-round pick on one of the oldest QB prospects to come along in quite some time (Tyler Shough, will be 26 this season).”

Klubnik has shown improvement each season under head coach Dabo Swinney. He’s expected to lead Clemson’s playoff push before declaring for the NFL Draft.

The Saints’ quarterback competition includes Shough alongside returning players competing for the starting role. Moore’s evaluation process will continue throughout training camp as the team prepares for the regular season.
