Gage Larvadain wasn’t drafted by any NFL team.

But the former South Carolina receiver is making a strong case for a roster spot with the Cleveland Browns.

Larvadain has stood out during training camp, earning praise from beat reporters covering the team. The Athletic’s Zac Jackson highlighted his performance after Saturday’s practice.

“The camper of the day Saturday was undrafted rookie wide receiver Gage Larvadain, who’s made a notable play on most days but made multiple impressive catches Saturday. If Larvadain keeps it up, he’ll make the team.”

The receiver also shared his excitement about catching a touchdown from veteran quarterback Joe Flacco during practice.

Larvadain’s path to Cleveland wasn’t typical for most college players.

He started at Southeastern Louisiana University, where he played both football and basketball as a walk-on. The Louisiana native earned Southland Conference Freshman of the Year honors and appeared in 11 basketball games over two seasons.

He transferred to Miami (Ohio) for his next stop.

There, he caught 42 passes for 679 yards and six touchdowns in one season with the RedHawks.

South Carolina became his final college destination. With the Gamecocks, Larvadain recorded 19 catches for 223 yards and one touchdown.

At 5-foot-8 and 170 pounds, Larvadain doesn’t have ideal NFL size for a receiver.

The Browns signed him after rookie minicamp, where he impressed coaches and scouts. Cleveland invited him to training camp based on that performance.

Cleveland’s receiving corps has several established players, but the back end of the depth chart remains open for competition.

If Larvadain continues his strong camp performance, he could earn a spot on the 53-man roster when final cuts are made.
