Syracuse brought in two transfers this offseason at quarterback. Rickie Collins arrived early from LSU, followed by Steve Angeli from Notre Dame.

The Orange now face a quarterback competition heading into the 2025 season.

Head coach Fran Brown addressed the quarterback battle when speaking to reporters on Wednesday.

“I want champions on our football team. But for us, it’s competitive all over. All right, no one’s safe, right? For us, everybody’s competing to play at every single position. We have guys that can compete to play. So if you decide not to compete that day, you might not be in the position you’re in the next day.”

Collins finished spring practice as the starting quarterback. But Brown’s comments suggest the competition remains open.

The winner won’t necessarily keep the job for the entire season either.

Syracuse enters 2025 with expectations to contend near the top of the ACC. The quarterback decision will be crucial to those hopes.

The Orange must get this position right. Their season depends on making the the correct choice at quarterback.
