The Houston Texans signed offensive tackle Aireontae Ersery to his rookie contract Saturday, according to KPRC 2 Houston’s Aaron Wilson.

Ersery, the No. 48 overall pick out of Minnesota, agreed to a four-year deal worth $9.2 million. The contract is fully guaranteed.

He’s the second day-two pick the Texans have locked up this week. Houston signed wide receiver Jayden Higgins earlier this week.

The 6-foot-5, 315-pound Ersery started multiple seasons at left tackle for the Gophers. He became a key piece of P.J. Fleck’s offensive line during his time in the Big Ten.

Now he’ll compete for immediate playing time in Houston.

The Texans need him. Houston traded Pro Bowl left tackle Laremy Tunsil to Washington earlier this offseason, creating a hole on the offensive line.

Getting Ersery signed without drama was a priority for GM Nick Caserio. The team wanted both second-round picks under contract before training camp opens.

The signings are part of Houston’s focus on building around young talent. Third-year quarterback C.J. Stroud is coming off an inconsistent 2024 season, and the front office wants to give him better protection and weapons.

Both rookie deals keep Houston’s offseason momentum going. The moves fit the bigger picture of building a sustainable core that can compete long-term.

Ersery joins a rookie class the Texans believe is ready to contribute immediately.

The hard part starts now. Training camp will show whether that potential translates to production on the field.
