Texas A&M landed the No. 3 seed in the first College Football Playoff rankings released Tuesday. The Aggies earned a first-round bye with their current position.
The bye isn’t locked in yet. Texas A&M needs to win its remaining games and capture the SEC Championship to guarantee the playoff advantage.
Aggies sit atop SEC after perfect start
Texas A&M stands alone at the top of the SEC with an 8-0 record. The Aggies secured their position after beating LSU on the road last weekend.
It’s their best start since 1992.
Texas A&M and Alabama are tied for first place in SEC standings. Both teams carry 5-0 conference records.
ESPN Analytics projects the Aggies will win most of their remaining games. The exception is their regular-season finale against Texas in Austin.
That Thanksgiving weekend matchup could reshape the entire SEC title race.
The 2025 College Football Playoff rankings will be released every Tuesday through early December. Selection Day is scheduled for Dec. 7 at noon ET.
