The Cleveland Browns have signed defensive end Myles Garrett to a four-year, $160 million contract extension, making the Texas A&M product the highest-paid non-quarterback in NFL history.
Bleacher Report confirmed the record-breaking deal on Sunday, which comes after Garrett had previously requested a trade from the organization.
The contract represents a significant shift from earlier this offseason when Garrett’s future with Cleveland appeared uncertain.
Garrett, 29, has established himself as one of the NFL’s premier defensive players since being selected first overall in the 2017 draft.
The former Aggie has accumulated 102.5 sacks, 352 tackles, 20 forced fumbles, six fumble recoveries, and 17 defended passes across 117 career games.
His durability has been particularly notable. Despite dealing with multiple injuries in 2023, Garrett appeared in all 17 regular season games.
This extension could potentially keep Garrett with the Browns for the remainder of his NFL career, allowing him to play his entire professional tenure with a single franchise.
The deal validates Garrett’s consistent production and elite status among defensive players league-wide.
Since entering the NFL, the Texas A&M standout has been one of the most disruptive defensive forces in the game, regularly commanding double-team attention from opposing offenses.
Garrett’s extension solidifies Cleveland’s defensive foundation as the team looks to build on recent success in the competitive AFC North.
