Few teams have been as successful at running the football as Missouri. Over the past few years, they’ve become one of college football’s top rushing programs. In 2023, Cody Schrader led the SEC with over 1,600 yards and 14 touchdowns. Pretty impressive, right? Fast forward to 2024, and the Tigers mixed it up with a two-headed rushing attack.
Even though their total numbers dipped a bit, they still racked up more than 2,100 yards on the ground. This dedication to the run game has caught the eye of both transfers and recruits. Missouri snagged Ahmad Hardy, On3’s No. 1 transfer running back, from the portal this winter. And get this—they’re already looking good for one of the best 2026 rushers.
On Monday, On3’s VP of Recruiting, Steve Wiltfong, predicted that the Tigers would land T.J. Hodges, a four-star running back from Marked Tree, Arkansas. This 6-foot-1, 175-pound powerhouse has offers from big names like Ole Miss, Arkansas, USC, and Auburn, just to name a few.
He recently listed Missouri among his top choices, alongside schools like Arkansas, Baylor, Florida State, Louisville, Oregon, and USC.
Tigers Making a Strong Impression on One of Arkansas’ Best
"I love everything about Missouri," Hodges shared with On3’s Chad Simmons. "The hype, the coaches, the feel, and the locker room are great. I know guys going there, and they love it too."
Hodges is ranked No. 175 overall (No. 2 in Arkansas) in the 2026 On3 Industry Ranking. He’s already checked out the Tigers, Razorbacks, and Rebels this season and plans to commit before his senior year kicks off.
"I’m graduating early, so I want to commit right before my senior season," Hodges explained. "I’m looking for a place that feels like home. Education comes first, but I also want to play for good coaches. Playing time matters because I want to get on the field early."
In just eight games as a junior, Hodges ran for an astounding 1,796 yards on 158 carries and scored 24 touchdowns. On defense, he made 40 tackles, had 10 tackles for loss, forced 4 fumbles, and got 2 sacks. That’s some serious talent!
The Tigers aren’t stopping there. They’ve already secured a commitment from Anthony Kennedy, a four-star defensive lineman and the state’s No. 4 prospect, hailing from Little Rock Maumelle. In 2024, they signed three of the state’s top nine recruits.
With these moves, Missouri is making sure their future looks bright. Could they be building a dynasty? Only time will tell!
