NFL draft buzz builds around Penn State’s Abdul Carter, with analysts projecting him as a potential top-2 pick.
The Sporting News’ 2025 NFL Mock Draft places Carter with the Cleveland Browns at No. 2 overall. The Browns finished 3-14 last season.
ESPN analyst Todd McShay sees the Tennessee Titans as another potential landing spot for the 6-foot-3, 259-pound defensive end.
“He’s the best player in this draft,” McShay said. “And it’s at a position of priority that is prioritized, in my opinion, over any other position outside of a quarterback.”
Titans General Manager Mike Borgonzi hasn’t mentioned Carter specifically but indicated the team’s willingness to be flexible with their draft position.
“Draft picks are our biggest form of currency, so when there’s opportunities to trade back to collect more picks, we’re going to do that,” Borgonzi said.
Carter’s NFL aspirations became clear after the Eagles-Chiefs Super Bowl when he posted on X: “Defense wins championships! Number one overall pick, 74 days.”
The Penn State standout helped lead the Nittany Lions to an Orange Bowl appearance last season, where they fell to Notre Dame.
If McShay’s projection of Carter to the Titans materializes, it could reshape the competitive landscape of the AFC South.
The 2024 NFL Draft runs from April 24-26 in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
