Michigan is on a roll with its 2025 recruiting class, snagging a spot among the top 10 in the nation according to the On3 Industry Football Team Recruiting Rankings. With just one big name left to reel in, the Wolverines’ coaches are already hitting the road to scout top prospects for 2026.

One standout on their list is Savion Hiter, a four-star running back from Mineral, Virginia’s Louisa County. He’s the No. 1 junior running back in the country, and Michigan is right in the thick of his recruitment.

On Wednesday, Michigan sent a strong squad of five coaches, including head coach Sherrone Moore and RBs coach Tony Alford, to visit Hiter at his school.

That kind of attention has certainly put Michigan on Hiter’s radar.

“Georgia, Michigan, Ohio State, Tennessee, they’re all pretty up there,” Hiter shared with On3’s Steve Wiltfong, discussing which schools are catching his eye.

He’s planning official visits to each of these schools over the summer before making his final choice. But one school seems to be leading the pack.

Wolverines Standing Out Early to Hiter

“Definitely Michigan,” Hiter said. “Michigan was a great visit. They treated me like it’s home. Coach Alford’s a great coach. He really knows how to coach ’em right and builds strong relationships with his running backs.”

The success of Moore, especially with wins over big teams like Alabama and Ohio State this season, has also caught Hiter’s attention.

“Just for it being his first year as head coach, he’s doing a great job,” Hiter noted. “We can all see that. He has plenty of great years to come.”

But don’t count out Georgia, Tennessee, and Ohio State. The Buckeyes are making a strong case for Hiter to join what they call Running Back U.

“Coach Locklyn is a straight-forward guy,” Hiter said about OSU’s running backs coach. “He doesn’t BS around anything. He’ll tell you straight-up what you need to improve on and what you need to do. They’re also RBU. Ezekiel Elliott, TreVeyon Henderson coming out of there now. Quinshon Judkins too.”

As a junior, Hiter put up some impressive numbers: 1,897 total yards and 29 touchdowns on offense, plus 56 tackles, seven sacks, four tackles for loss, and one interception on defense.

With so much talent and attention, it’s going to be interesting to see where Hiter lands. Keep an eye on this one—it’s gonna be exciting!
