The 6-foot-4, 225-pound defender is rated the nation’s No. 28 overall prospect and No. 4 edge-rusher in his class.
Henderson narrowed his choices to Florida, LSU and Texas. He took official visits to all three schools since late May.
LSU has emerged as the favorite heading into decision day.
On3 gives the Tigers a 94.2 percent chance of landing Henderson. 247Sports has one prediction so far – and it favors LSU.
LSU’s recruiting class is currently ranked No. 14 nationally with 11 commitments. The group is headlined by Hattiesburg (Mississippi) five-star wide receiver Tristan Keys.
Impact on LSU’s Rankings
Henderson would become the second five-star commitment in LSU’s class if he chooses the Tigers. That addition would push the class to No. 11, jumping ahead of Texas, Tennessee and Florida State.
Florida and Texas still have time to pull off a surprise Wednesday.
Henderson’s recruitment has drawn attention because of his combination of size and athleticism. He can rush the passer from the edge while also dropping into coverage when needed.
“Sprouting linebacker that can get after the quarterback as he comes screaming around the corner. Size has not been third-party verified, but is believed to be over 6-foot-4 and tipping the scales right around 225 pounds.”
247Sports praised Henderson’s development between his sophomore and junior seasons.
“Took a major step forward between sophomore and junior seasons – evoking much more confidence and physicality. Future could very well be in an on-ball role as a two-point edge rusher in an 3-4 look, but is rather comfortable dropping into space and has the chase speed to make stops outside the hashes, which suggests that he could also trigger from an off-ball perch.”
The scouting report highlighted his ability to transition from speed to power rushes. His play recognition skills also impressed evaluators.
“Overall, should be viewed as a potential multi-year impact defender at the Power Four level given how he bends and moves at his size.”
Henderson’s versatility makes him valuable in multiple defensive schemes. He can function as both an edge rusher and coverage linebacker.
The announcement comes during a busy period for college football recruiting, as prospects finalize their decisions before the start of their senior seasons.
