North Carolina football coach Bill Belichick is reportedly considering hiring a public relations specialist amid growing scrutiny over his girlfriend’s involvement with the program.
The former NFL head coach, who hasn’t coached a single game for the Tar Heels, has faced criticism regarding Jordon Hudson’s apparent attempts to insert herself into his professional responsibilities.
During a CBS interview, Hudson was reportedly seen trying to involve herself in various aspects of Belichick’s work.
“Per multiple sources, Belichick has been talking to at least one experienced P.R. specialist in the hopes of boosting his book tour and/or the overall interests of the North Carolina football program,” Mike Florio wrote.
PR professionals have offered their perspective on Belichick’s situation.
“If I were Bill Belichick, I would be more worried about my personal reputation than book sales right now,” said Josh Culling. “The way to rehab his personal reputation is to win football games. If UNC wins 10 games this year and has a top-10 recruiting class, then all is well.”
The criticism of Hudson has been particularly harsh in some circles.
Pablo Torre appeared on The Dan Patrick Show Friday and shared feedback he’d received about Hudson.
“One person said, ‘she is the worst person I’ve ever dealt with on earth, and I’ve dealt with actual sociopaths.’ I’m not saying that is everyone, I’m just saying this story is extreme,” Torre said.

The controversy adds another dimension to Belichick’s tenure at North Carolina before his first season has even begun.
