Former Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer predicts the Buckeyes will win 10 games next season, a step back from their national championship campaign.
“I think they’ve recruited at a whole different level than anyone else in college football,” Meyer said on a podcast. “They had a good spring game. They love their quarterback, Julian Sayin… but I’ve got them at 10 wins.”
Ohio State finished 14-2 en route to winning the national title last season.
Meyer didn’t specify if he believes one of those 10 wins would come against rival Michigan.
The Buckeyes are losing significant talent from their championship roster but return several key players, including wide receiver Jeremiah Smith.
Meyer’s prediction falls short of the standard he set during his tenure at Ohio State from 2012-2018, when the program won more than 10 games every season.
His 2014 team went 14-1 and captured the national championship.
A 10-win season would be considered successful at most programs but falls below expectations at Ohio State, where championship contention is the annual standard.
