ESPN’s College GameDay has arrived in Lubbock, Texas for one of the biggest matchups of the college football season. The show will broadcast from Texas Tech’s campus ahead of Saturday’s Big 12 showdown between the No. 7 BYU Cougars and No. 8 Texas Tech Red Raiders.

Lubbock has become the center of college football this week thanks to Joey McGuire’s remarkable turnaround of the Red Raiders program.

Texas Tech enters the game at 8-1 overall and 5-1 in Big 12 play. The Red Raiders are on pace for their best conference start since 2008, powered by a defense that leads the Big 12 in scoring defense and total yards allowed.

BYU brings an undefeated 8-0 record and perfect 5-0 Big 12 mark to Jones AT&T Stadium. The Cougars are led by true freshman quarterback Bear Bachmeier, who’ll face his toughest test yet in the hostile Lubbock environment.

The atmosphere will be amplified by College GameDay’s presence, creating what promises to be one of the season’s most electric environments.

Where will ‘College GameDay’ be for Week 11?

  • Location: Lubbock, Texas
  • Time: 9 a.m. ET
  • Matchup: No. 7 BYU vs. No. 8 Texas Tech

This matchup pits two contrasting styles against each other. Texas Tech’s defense has been the Big 12’s best unit, while BYU’s offense has been efficient in staying undefeated.

For the Red Raiders, a win would solidify their Big 12 Championship hopes. The Cougars need a victory to maintain their perfect record and strengthen their national playoff case.

The Red Raiders lead the Big 12 in multiple defensive categories, including scoring defense, rushing yards allowed per game and total yards allowed per game. They’ll face a significant challenge in BYU running back L.J. Martin, who has rushed for over 100 yards in every complete game he’s played this season.

Bear Bachmeier has been a revelation for BYU. The true freshman became the first first-year quarterback in school history to start a season opener.

Through eight games, Bachmeier has thrown for 1,693 yards and 11 touchdowns. He’s also rushed for 408 yards and 9 touchdowns, making him one of the nation’s most effective dual-threat quarterbacks.

Bachmeier has earned Big 12 Freshman of the Week honors five times in the first seven weeks. He’s also been added to the Manning Award Watch List.

Both teams rank in the top three of Big 12 scoring offense, setting up Saturday’s game as a can’t-miss showdown between two high-powered units.
